Collage of eight products on August 2022's love list

Hi, hello. It feels like it’s been a while, huh?

I’ve got some big news to share with y’all today—we adopted a dog! It just felt serendipitous, and we knew when we met her that she was the one for us.

Her name is Dove. We adopted her from a rescue organization called Dizzy Dog after a friend of mine met her at a shelter in Houston and the rescue group stepped in to save her off the euth list.

She is sweet as pie, good with our girls and just… incredibly chill.

We adopted her the night of August 13 and have all loved her ever since. She has been such a delight to add to our lives and our home.

    Let’s Discuss Highlights:

    • Hosting family: We hosted two sets of grandparents in Dallas this month, and it’s been nice to get back into our usual “routine” as the summer wound down.
    • Back to school: Our older one started school in the middle of the month. Our younger one starts first thing next month. Both girls are excited about their schools and learning… and it just makes me so incredibly happy to see them happy like this.

Now Let’s Talk About This Monthly Love List…

To recap, my potluck, as defined by the folks at Merriam-Webster is:

the regular meal available to a guest for whom no special preparations have been made… a communal meal to which people bring food to share —usually used attributively ; whatever is offered and available in given circumstances or at a given time.

Now who’s ready to see what ended up on my list for August 2022?!?

    1. Drunk Elephant Vitamin C Eye Cream
I purchased this eye cream for myself on a lark, and it feels amazing and gentle and like just what my eyes need. I use it both in the morning and at night and my eyes so far have been very happy.

Nordstrom Moonlight Eco Short Pajamas in Navy Peacoat
I aspire to be a pajama person and not just a mismatched T-shirt and boxers gal. I purchased these PJs during the Nordstrom sale and have been enjoying them a lot this month because they’re soft, stretchy and perfect for summertime sleep.

    3. Brass Fringe Beaded Earrings by Nest Pretty Things
I purchased these earrings as a present for myself earlier this month from a local boutique, and I am just… obsessed with them. The colors are fun, and they match with basically anything I could wear, so I’ve been wearing them a LOT as nice little pop of color.

    4. Ted Lasso
We’re late to the party for this show, but OH MY GOODNESS, it is such a delight! As someone who’s struggled with entertainment stuff that’s been so heavy in recent years, it’s been really nice to watch a feel-good comedy and to be rooting for everyone in the series. We’re about halfway through season 2 right now, and I cannot wait to watch the next episode!

    5. Book Lovers by Emily Henry
I grabbed this book from the library and finished it recently. This book, which is a romantic comedy of sorts, was an utter delight and an easy read. It was really well written, and I loved the characters who were introduced and who we followed. Unlike some romantic comedies, it wasn’t super steamy, and that was totally OK.

    6. The Ellie Nap Dress in Black Poplin
I purchased this for myself on a lark, and I am just… utterly obsessed with it and how it looks and feels. It’s flattering and lightweight, which is perfect, considering it’s been miserably hot here this summer. I got the black one, just to see if I liked it, and am trying to figure out another color to purchase myself when the weather finally, finally, finally changes.

    7. Le Creuset Set of 2 Nonstick Stainless Steel Fry Pans:
We picked these out at the outlet when we were in Alabama, and we’ve been using them a lot this month. It’s nice to have a nonstick frying pan in the kitchen again since our old one lost its nonstick capabilities, and these have been excellent for frying eggs, as well as cooking dinner.

I’ve really liked Tula ever since I discovered their Cult Classic Purifying Face Cleanser* (affiliate link) and these toner pads are excellent. You can feel them working, and my face always feels fresh and ready for the day after I use them.
