Marshmallowy, crispy and colorful, these patriotic July 4 Rice Krispie Treats will make your summer holidays even sweeter. Cheer on the red, white and blue with these chewy, childhood-favorite treats decorated with drizzles of tri-colored icing.
Line a 9” x 13” dish with parchment paper or wax paper. Spray with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside for later.
Measure out the marshmallows, vanilla and Rice Krispies cereal into separate bowls because you will need to work quickly with this recipe.
Melt the butter and marshmallows in a large saucepan or a Dutch oven over medium heat.
Remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the pre-measured cereal until fully coated.
Transfer the mixture into your prepared baking dish.
Sprinkle the sprinkles on top of the treats, and gently press them in with a rubber spatula or with greased hands.
Melt colored candy melts according to package directions and drizzle over your treats in whatever pattern is pleasing to you.
Allow to cool for 30 minutes before removing them from the dish and cutting them into squares.
Enjoy!
Notes
I cut my treats into squares. If you cut yours larger or smaller, you will have a different number. How to store: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days. After this point, the treats will begin to harden.
